Bolts 97, Beermen 108

Bolts vs Beermen
San Miguel sent Meralco packing with a 108-97 victory last 20 June at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium to advance to the semifinals of the PBA 49th Season Philippine Cup.

The SMB win assured a new all-Filipino champion will be crowned as Meralco’s title run ended almost a year to the day the Bolts beat the Beermen in six games in the finals.

Top-4 seeds San Miguel, NLEX, Magnolia, and Ginebra hold a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals, needing just one win to advance to the semifinals.

Bolts vs Gins
Before they will represent the country in an international meet in Dubai, the Meralco Bolts got things done in their final game in the PBA Philippine Cup elims.

With a strong closing salvo, the Bolts repulsed the Barangay Ginebra Kings, 82-73, to claim an outright playoffs entry last 30 May at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Rain or Shine Elastopaiters went on attack mode early on to set the stage for a 128-116 blowout of Meraco - its second straight win in the PBA Philippine Cup last 27 April.

Leonard Santillan had 19 of his 27 points in the opening half, while Gian Mamuyac and Adrian Nocum scored 20-plus points for the Elasto Painters, who improved to a 2-1 (win-loss) record while playing without big men Beau Belga, Keith Datu, and now Caelan Tiongson.

Bolts 97, Phoenix 109

The Phoenix Fuelmasters stunned reigning champion Meralco, 109-97, last 13 April for its first win in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The Fuelmasters welcomed Jason Perkins back with a rousing victory over the Bolts to atone for two straight defeats to start the conference.
